Dr. Maria Luisa Catalan received her M.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 2003, and her PH. D. in Telematics Engineering in 2009. She joined the i2Cat Foundation in April 2011, where she works as Research Projects Manager in the IoT area. Before, she worked from 2004 to 2011 as a researcher in the Wireless Networks Group (WNG) at UPC. She has wide experience in the optimisation of Internet protocols in cellular and wireless multi-hop networks and in the performance of IoT wireless technologies, such as IEEE802.15.4, SIGFOX or LoRa. She has been actively involved in the implementation and deployment of real-world IoT prototypes and testbeds for different application areas, such as Smart Cities, Energy Management, Home Automation, Assisted Living, Location or Emergency Services. She has published her research in international and national conferences and journals and has participated in more than 20 national and international publish-funded and technology transfer projects. Concretely, in the Smart Cities area, she has leaded i2CAT’s participation in the FP7 TRESCIMO project and is currently involved in the H2020 GROWSMARTER initiative.
